Some of our equipment is very inefficient and causes more time to be spent on projects.  If we updated we could move more product through quicker and with higher quality.  Choosing when to use one machine over another for a project is important to have work flow through the area better and faster.

After going through intro to lean some ideas I had that could be applied to sort/laser. One idea I had would be to standardize cut conditions for each material. Laser ops should work together and find the best cut conditions for each of the "common" materials we cut at Preferred and then maybe having to center before every other sheet/easier labeling of nozzles so the wrong nozzle won't get used. I'm not sure if this is somewhat being done already, I'm just going off common mistakes the laser ops have told me that lead to welded sheets/bad cut quality.

This will help eliminate waste from sort cleaning parts and more value add for us as the customer is not paying for us to clean parts.

Could you identify what waste you would be eliminating and Look at the A3 form attached to see who we can talk with to help determine if this is a good fit for the problem.
